May 2021 Meeting
Wednesday, May 26th
We decided to move May’s meeting date until Wednesday, May 26th to better accommodate the CCPS schedule. We plan to kayak, fish & hike at Piney Run Park in Sykesville.
We will cancel for weather including wind. Please check your email before leaving for the park.
Kayaking
Signups for kayaking are at https://signup.com/go/TLySyGd . Cost will be $2 per person for the kayaks and $5 per car to enter the park. Please bring your own life jacket if possible though we will have life jackets available. Life jackets must be worn at all times when on the water. Clovers (5 to 7 as of 1/1/2021) must be in a boat with a responsible adult. Juniors (8 to 10 as of 1/1/2021) may be in their own boat but a responsible adult must be on the water with them. Two trained 4-H volunteers must be on the lake anytime a youth without an accompanying parent is on the lake. These 4-H volunteer spots may be available if you are accompanying your child.
Fishing
Bring your pole or borrow one of ours to fish from the docks and practice your fish identification skills. We will bring worms.
Hiking
We will be leading a hike around Piney Run from 5 to about 7 PM. We will look for birds, herps, other animals, wild flowers and whatever else we see. We will learn how to record the birds we see for the MD/DC Bird Atlas project
